UW-Stout's Lydia Meier, Carli Clifton and Heidi Lieffort all captured runner-up finishes on the first day of the WIAC Track and Field Championship at UW-Whitewater. As a team, the Blue Devils were in second place at the conclusion of the first day.

The UW-Stout men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the 2016 WIAC Outdoor Championships Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7 at UW-Whitewater. The Blue Devil men last year finished fourth, while the women finished seventh.

UW-Stout's Michelle Brandt captured a first and second place finish in the shot put and the hammer throw to lead the Blue Devils at the St. Mary's Open in Winona, Minn., Saturday.
Two relay teams competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday, while a pair of Blue Devil senior distance runners competed at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich.
Brother and sister Robert Mesenburg and Laura Mesenburg grew up together and were pretty typical siblings. Over the last three years, the siblings have been teammates on the UW-Stout track and field team where both compete in the pole vault.
Emma Sapiro and Heidi Lieffort took first place finishes at the Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse, as did Laurisa Titterud and Lydia Meier, who both broke their own school records, Titterud in the 800-meter run and Meier in the hammer throw Friday.
Lydia Meier won the hammer throw and the discus, outpacing 45 performers in the hammer and 33 performers in the discus at the Holst Invitational hosted by Concordia-St. Paul Saturday.
